New Delhi: Stormy batsman Kieron Pollard has said that Shimron Hetmyer is the player who can take West Indies cricket a long way "from a generation point of view". Let us tell you that Pollard is currently the captain of the West Indies in the ODI and T20 formats. He has said that he would love to see 24-year-old Hetmyer play in all three formats of the game.
Mentioned that left-handed batsman Hetmyer last played a Test match in November 2019. He could not make it to the West Indies squad for the recent home series against Sri Lanka after failing to pass the mandatory fitness test. Hetmyer last played in an ODI in January 2020. He said, "We love Hetty (Hetmyer). He is a young, talented batsman. He is a man we know, deep in our hearts, can take West Indies cricket forward with his talent from a generation point of view and he can achieve a lot on the cricket field".
Shimron Hetmyer has got a lot of chances in the Caribbean team but has not been able to make a mark yet. However, his stature in league cricket is very high as he is a power hitter. Speaking on sportsmax's show, Pollard said, "He knows the reality and he knows what it is. We would love to see Hetty play in all three formats, but as it is said, 'You can only take the horse into the water, but you can't force him to drink".
