NEW DELHI:  Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, on Wednesday instructed Manish Sisodia, the minister of labour, to give monthly cash assistance to labourers in the amount of Rs 5,000 amid the ban on construction activities
The Delhi government had on Sunday banned the GRAP-compliant construction and demolition operations due to the escalating levels of air pollution in the nation's capital.

"Due to pollution, construction has been put on hold throughout Delhi. During this time when construction activities are prohibited, I have ordered Manish Sisodia, the minister of labour, to provide each construction worker with Rs 5000 per week in financial support "Tweeted Kejriwal.

To address the deteriorating air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR & Adjoining Areas (CAQM) Sub-Committee for Invoking Actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) held an emergency meeting on Saturday and recommended all actions as envisaged under Stage III of the GRAP - "Severe" Air Quality of the National Capital Region."

Delhi has banned all construction and demolition work because of the city's increasing pollution. To keep an eye on the construction-demolition prohibition, 586 teams have been organised. The amount of water being sprayed has increased due to the pollution condition. To combat pollution in Delhi, 233 anti-smog guns, 150 mobile anti-smog guns, and 521 water sprinklers have been used "Gopal Rai, the environment minister, had issued a moratorium on building and demolition work on Sunday.
