NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister and National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, congratulated Bhagwant Mann on his elevation as Punjab's Chief Minister on Wednesday. In a tweet today, Kejriwal expressed hope that prosperity will return to Punjab under Mann's leadership.

"Many many congratulations and best wishes to Bhagwant Mann on becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab. I am confident that prosperity would return to Punjab under your leadership. A lot of progress will be made, and people's issues will be solved. God is with you," tweeted Kejriwal in Hindi. Bhagwant Mann, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was sworn in as Punjab's Chief Minister on Wednesday.

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath to Mann. In Khatkar Kalan, the famed independence fighter Bhagat Singh's ancestral village, a big swearing-in ceremony was held.

Mann was notable for wearing a yellow turban, which is associated with Bhagat Singh. In the recently ended Punjab Assembly elections, the AAP won a resounding victory, capturing 92 seats and pushing most of its opponents to the fringes. In the 117-member Assembly, the Congress gained 18 seats.
