NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, condemning the police assault on protesting doctors in the national capital and wondering who would cure Covid-19 patients if doctors were compelled to demonstrate on the streets.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kejriwal wrote: "These are the same doctors who have been protecting the country from Covid-19 for the past year and a half. It's unfortunate that these doctors are now being compelled to come to the streets since their voices are being ignored. It will also have an impact on our fight against the epidemic. As a result, I strongly advise you to get NEET-PG counselling as soon as possible." Hundreds of resident doctors from multiple government-run hospitals in Delhi have been protesting for the past few days over the National Eligibility Cumulation Entrance Test (Postgraduate) being delayed.

An FIR has been registered against the resident doctors who have been protesting for the past 11 days to have the NEET-PG 2021 candidates counselled faster.

The resident doctors staged a protest march towards the Supreme Court on Monday, but were stopped in the middle by Delhi police. The physicians surrendered their equipment on the road to voice their protest after they were not allowed to continue their march. During their march to the Supreme Court, the doctors claimed they were beaten and dragged.
