Kerala: 13 years old loses his life after being corona infected

Recently, a teenager lost his life after getting corona positive. A 13-year-old Kannur native boy, who was under treatment for COVID-19 lost his life on Saturday. Notably, the boy had no known comorbidities. The dead is identified to be a citizen of Therthally at Alakode in Kannur. The boy was admitted to the Government Hospital in Taliparamba on October 6, after he developed COVID-19 symptoms, reports a leading daily. But after his condition started deteriorating, he was transferred to Government Medical College in Pariyaram. He had contracted pneumonia and was put on ventilator support but he passed away on Saturday morning.

In the meantime, officials of Pariyaram Medical College told a leading daily that the boy had developed pneumonia before he was brought to the hospital. “It was already too late and the child was weak. He was put on ventilator support from the day he got admitted but passed away this (Saturday)  morning,” said the official. An official of Therthally Public Health Centre also told reporters that the boy did not have any comorbidities. According to the official, he developed fever and stomach pain on October 6 following which he was tested for COVID-19 by an antigen test.

Though it turned out negative, a PT-PCR test showed him corona infected. Reportedly, no other family members of his house have tested positive for coronavirus. The 13-year-old was the class 8 student of St Mary’s Higher Secondary School. Back in April, a four-month-old baby, who had tested positive for coronavirus, had passed away. The Malappuram native child had been undergoing from heart-related ailments from birth.
