THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala's Tourism and Higher Education departments joined forces on Thursday to launch an innovative programme to establish tourism clubs on key college campuses across the state. In the initial phase, tourism clubs will be founded in 25 institutions across the state.

The Department of Tourism will provide the clubs' activities, will be in charge of the upkeep of 25 tourism destinations. Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas stated that they will pay special attention to the hygiene of each resort.

"The strategy includes identifying future tourism professionals among students who can also help market the locations through social media platforms," Mohamed Riyas said, exuding confidence that campus clubs will pave the way for new tourism trends and stimulate interest in travel among students. "There are some good bloggers among students, and their talent can be used to promote the State's tourism attractions to a larger audience," Mohamed Riyas remarked.

Part-time tourism guides are another option for the youth. To refine their talents, cultural encounters and workshops will be held in collaboration with foreign colleges, said Mohamed Riyas.
