Kochi: More and more people in Kerala's Alappuzha municipality are demanding treatment for diarrhea and vomiting. According to media reports, since June 28, 300 people, mostly children, had sought treatment for Diarrhea and vomiting at the women's and children's hospitals. Alappuzha and general hospital.

In most cases, treatment has been done as external patients, while some have been admitted to women's and children's hospitals. The condition of the admitted people is said to be stable and recovering. The exact cause of the outbreak is yet to be ascertained, but according to initial assessment contaminated water may be the cause of the outbreak. Water samples have been collected from different parts for testing.

Samples collected from patients have been transported to the Microbiology Lab of Government Medical College Hospital, and District Public Health Laboratory for testing. A few more samples have also been sent. A health official at the National Institute of Virology said authorities have taken water samples and blood samples of patients from different parts for testing.
