THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ruling CPI-M was blamed by the Congress and the BJP on Friday for the alarming increase of Covid-19 cases in the state, an allegation disputed by state Health Minister Veena George.
The two parties claimed that the CPI-M’s marathon district party meetings had turned into a "super-spreader" with the test positivity rate breaking the 40percent mark and the state recorded the highest ever daily new cases of over 46,000 on Thursday. V.D.Satheesan, the Leader of the Opposition, stated that since the CPI-M leadership took over the health department, they have decided everything according to their convenience.
"While the test positivity rate is what decides the tightening of Covid procedures, it was sadly overlooked when the three-day district party meetings in Thrissur and Kasargod were held (which began on Friday). As a result, they've established a new benchmark for the number of hospitalizations caused by Covid in hospitals. Thrissur has a TPR of 34, while Kasargod has a TPR of 36 "Satheesan expressed his thoughts.
He said that a recent CPI-M district gathering in Thiruvananthapuram turned into a super spreader, with approximately 100 people becoming Covid supporters. When he spoke with the reporters today, Health Minister George refuted all of the claims levelled by the Congress leadership.
