As per the guidelines issued by Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, an apartment area, residential area or a large house can also be declared as a micro-cantonment zone in case of a high positivity rate. As per the new rules, triple lockdown restrictions will be imposed in micro-maintenance zones. A micro-maintenance zone has 5 or more corona cases, which is more likely to spread the virus. It can be a shopping mall, road, market, workshop, port, fishing village, office, IT company anything.

The same guideline clearly says that on the basis of clustering potential, daily assessment can be done at the district level, and move up to 100 meters can be controlled so that the infection is confined to the affected area. Any micro-maintenance zone will remain in place for the next seven days from the date of such notification. If further information is not given, then it will not be a micro-maintenance zone for further purposes.

The Sectoral Magistrates will take care of these micro-maintenance zones so that the rules are not flouted in any way. The guideline suggests more testing, contact tracing through ASHA workers. The State Government has introduced a scheme for the prevention of viruses based on the density of corona cases at a particular location. It will be managed on the basis of a micro maintenance zone at the ward level.
