Kochi: The scope of investigation agencies in Kerala gold smuggling case of CM office is increasing. In this category, CM Pinarayi Vijayan's former Principal Secretary and former IT Department Secretary M. Shivshankar reached NIA office in Kochi. He will be further questioned in the high profile Kerala gold smuggling case.

However, even before this, NIA Shivshankar has been questioned many times. On July 23, the senior IAS officer was questioned by the National Investigation Agency for about 5 hours. According to the investigation, the man accused in the gold smuggling case, Sarith PS and Swapna Suresh had close relations with Shivshankar. It has also been found from the investigation that Shiv Shankar also identifies the fourth accused in the case, Sandeep Nair.

Let us tell you that when the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan was asked about the questioning of his former Principal Secretary by the NIA, he said that the NIA is investigating the case properly. I have already given feedback in this matter and there is no need to repeat it. On Friday, the NIA told a special NIA court that about Rs 1 crore in cash and 982.5 grams of gold ornaments were recovered from 2 bank lockers of accused Swapna Suresh. Please tell that in this case, so far sixteen accused including Swapna, Sarith and Sandeep have been arrested. On July 5, the Customs Department exposed the smuggling of thirty kilograms of gold worth about fifteen crore rupees.
