Madhya Pradesh-Ujjain: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan offered prayers at the famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, (January 8), morning, an official said.

The Governor paid a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple during the Mahakal's 'Bhog Aarti,' said Ganesh Dhakad, the temple's administrator. The Lord Shiva temple is one of the country's 12 'Jyotirlingas,' which draw a considerable number of devotees.

The temple's administrator  Dhakad said, priests did puja according to rituals, while the The Governor  offered prayers from behind barricades in accordance with COVID-19 directives.

The governor was greeted by temple officials who presented him with the temple scarf. Dhakad said Arif Mohammed Khan left the temple after 40 minutes. Due to an increase in coronavirus infections in Madhya Pradesh, the local administration decided earlier this month to prohibit admission into the temple's sanctum sanctorum.
