A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has overturned the single Bench's stay on the survey process for the SilverLine semi-high-speed rail project. The Court made its verdict on the State Government's appeal against the Single Bench's order.

The Division Bench also set aside the Single Bench's order to provide the Detailed Project Report's details (DPR). The survey procedure was halted on January 20 by a single bench led by Justice Devan Ramachandran.

The State Government stated in its appeal, "The current survey was conducted to facilitate the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) research, which would determine whether any land would need to be acquired. The administration has not yet stated whether or not it intends to buy land for the project."

Protests have erupted in Kerala against the state's ambitious semi-high-speed railway project, SilverLine. It is thought to be one of the Pinarayi Vijayan government's largest infrastructure projects. Thiruvananthapuram in the south and Kasaragod in the north will be connected in just four hours by the projected 529.45-kilometer railway route.

Kerala would take stern action against anybody who break the trekking rules.
