Kochi: Kerala High Court deferred Malayalam Actor Dileep's anticipatory bail plea to February 2 in a case filed by Kerala Police's Crime Branch for allegedly intimidating investigation authorities investigating the Actress Assault Case of 2017. Until then, an interim order prohibiting police from detaining Dileep will remain in effect.
After the prosecution requested it, the Single Bench of Justice P Gopinath deferred the case, citing the pending examination of digital evidence as the reason. The prosecution further stated that the report will be submitted to the Court on a sealed cover today.
On January 23, January 24, and January 25, Crime Branch questioned Dileep and the other four accused in the case for 33 hours, as ordered by the High Court. On January 9, the Kerala Police Crime Branch filed a new case against movie actor Dileep and five others for allegedly intimidating investigating officers.
They were charged with abetment of an offence punishable by imprisonment, 118 (concealing design to commit an offence punishable by death or life imprisonment), 120B (part of a criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (criminal intimidation) (criminal act done by several people).
