The families of five men who died in a road accident in Bangladesh when a pick-up vehicle collided with them have expressed suspicion that the incident was pre-meditated murder. Munni Sushil escaped the road accident that killed five of her brothers and wounded two others on February 8 in Chittagong's Chakaria upazila.

Munni stated that the accident seemed to be pre-planned: "On the 29th of January, a gang of roughly 50 miscreants attacked our house. My father was threatened with death. My father died of a heart attack the next day, on January 30. My father has been doing Durga Puja here for the last ten years."

Deepak Sushil, one of her brothers, had brought bricks and gravel to Hasinapara village in January to construct a temple. "My father has been receiving threats since then," Munni told media. "If my brothers were not the intended victims, why did the vehicle crush them when they were off the road rather than killing the two of us who were standing on the road?" she asked. Raktim Sushil, one of her injured brothers, is in a coma at the Chittagong General Hospital, and his condition is said to be serious.

Plabon, Raktim's brother, was also hurt in the collision and later filed a police report with the Chakaria police station.  Manu Bala Shil, his bereaved mother, said: "Who will I visit with my five sons' grandchildren? My children have never caused anyone harm. What was the purpose of killing my five children in this manner?" Mrinalini, a family member, claimed, "We couldn't recognise the attackers." Since 2010, the family has been residing in Hasinapara village, Malumghat. In the hamlet, there are around 30-35 Hindu families. According to a source, the investigating officer will look into the victims' family's claims of past enmity.
