Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju announced the creation of the National Center of Excellence for Winter Sports Academy in Gulmarg, 55 km from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The youth of the valley were very excited with this announcement of Rijiju.
Regarding this matter, Rijiju said that it will be a world-class academy and the center will get full support for all facilities here. Its main objective is that players of the country's big winter sports should come out of Kashmir. The Union Sports Minister also inaugurated the first Khelo India Winter Games being held in Gulmarg. Rijiju said, "We have thought about taking a very big step forward, in coordination with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) of the Jammu Kashmir administration, the Jammu Kashmir Sports Council and the Sports Ministry of the Government of India, and we have taken this decision That a National Center of Excellence for Winter Sports Academy is going to be started in Gulmarg. It will be a world-class academy.
