New Delhi: Whenever the central agencies crack down on the leaders of opposition parties, they continue to accuse the central government of misusing the investigating agencies out of vengeance. Congress has also levelled similar allegations against the Central government over the ED's questioning of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. But in the meantime, the Supreme Court while hearing a petition has retained the right to arrest, and confiscate property under the PMLA Act.

Now, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has taken on the opposition citing the Supreme Court verdict. He said the Apex court's decision has made it clear that the central government has nothing to do with the investigation in any case. The Union Minister further said that when agencies take action against a corrupt person, it gives strength to the government's drive against corruption. He said "The action of any investigating agency is based on law and information. The Government has no role to play in determining any case.''

Let us know that Karti Chidambaram had filed a petition against the PMLA in the Supreme Court, he is also being prosecuted by the ED. Apart from them, many leaders are trapped in the ED's clutches. They include former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, P Chidambaram, his son Karti Chidambaram, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah, Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee, Partha Chatterjee, Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain.
