He is an AC technician by profession. His ancestors were farmers and French Passion is also farming. Talking to The Better India recently, Francis said, 'My grandmother's house in Fort Kochi had many varieties of roses, those plants were brought from every corner of India by my maternal uncle. When Cut Roses were seen only in Bengaluru and rarely in Kerala, Kochi still had a large collection of roses. It inspired me a lot. We started with Gulab after coming to the new house with his wife. After planting many kinds of crops, flowers, Francis thought of trying his luck in mangoes. I thought when there can be mangoes in the bag, then I can put some variety on my terrace.

Let us tell you that Francis has used PVC drums instead of bags. Actually, these drums can be easily moved here and this is why they chose them. He has more than 40 varietals mangoes on his roof, including Alfonso, Neelam, Malgovo. Actually some of these trees give fruits 2 times a year! According to the news, not only mangoes, but also French jackfruit, papaya, sapota, bitter gourd, cabbage, ladyfinger, tomatoes are grown on their roof. This is really great.
