Kolkata: Securitypersonnel of the Bangladeshi embassy in the Park Circus area of West Bengal's capital Kolkata on Thursday suddenly opened indiscriminate fire with their automatic rifle. During this time, a woman riding a scooty passing through the road was shot dead there. After this, the security personnel also shot himself. Police have not yet made the identities of the two public. It is also not clear why the security personnel opened fire. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area due to this sudden firing. The name of the deceased policeman in the incident is Chedup Lepcha. He was a resident of Darjeeling and was serving in the 5th Battalion of the Arms Police.

Eyewitnesses said that suddenly the security personnel started firing with his automatic rifle. There were at least 8-10 rounds of firing. In which the woman riding the scooty from nearby was seriously injured and died on the spot. The security personnel then shot themselves. At the moment nothing is clear as to why the incident took place. After receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and cordoned off the spot. CCTV footage is being viewed. 

At the moment, no statement has been issued by the Bangladesh Embassy in this regard. In fact, the Muslim community across the country has been protesting over the alleged indecent remarks about the Prophet Muhammad, the originator of Islam. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Embassy in Kolkata which is in the Muslim-dominated area of Park Circus. The indiscriminate firing of the security personnel there is also under question.
