Kolkata: BJP candidate Suman Das's wife from ward number 92 has been allegedly threatened with rape and murder by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in West Bengal's Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections. Suman Das has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Lake Police Station in Kolkata. 144 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation are scheduled to go to the polls on December 19. With this, various political parties have intensified campaigning and now the elections are in their final stages.

Meanwhile, BJP candidates have alleged that TMC is creating an atmosphere of fear in this election as well. Suman Das said in a complaint at Lake Police Station that his wife Devarti Das has been threatened with rape and murder by some unidentified persons after the elections are over. His wife was coming home with her daughter. And, some unknown people threatened them. They appeared to have been TMC supporters. Suman Das while talking to the media said that some people were putting up the flag in his ward on Sunday afternoon. At the same time, his wife and daughter were coming.

Suman Das said that during this time they made indecent remarks on his wife from behind and when his wife opposed it, they threatened to rape and kill her after the election. He said he and his wife have lodged a written complaint with the Lake police station in this regard, though action has been assured by the lake police station but no action has been taken so far.
