Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC)  leader Anubrata Mandal has received a major setback from the Calcutta High Court. The High Court did not grant any leniency to Anubrata Mondal from appearing before the CBI in the cattle smuggling case and turned down the petition. A bench of Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice R Bhardwaj said it saw no ground to interfere with the earlier order of the single bench of the high court refusing to grant relief to Anubrata Mandal in connection with the CBI notice.

Let us know that, the CBI is investigating the cattle smuggling case against Anubrata Mandal. The bench dismissed Mandal's plea challenging the single bench order. In fact, TMC's Birbhum district unit president Anubrata Mondal had challenged the single bench order of the Calcutta High Court before its division bench earlier this month. Mandal's lawyers had argued in court that his client had several ailments.

Anubrata Mandal's lawyers had urged that the CBI be directed to interrogate him through video conference from his residence in Bolpur in Birbhum district. But a larger bench of the high court rejected the TMC leader's plea. Let us know that Anubrata Mandal is considered to be very special to Mamata Banerjee.
