Bangalore: Former Karnataka CM and JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy on Monday met Karnataka CM and BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa and urged him not to allow the state-owned "Mysugar" factory  in Mandya to lease private industries.

Kumaraswamy also launched personal attacks against Mandya MP Sumalata Ambareesh (Sumalatha Ambareesh) in connection with the issue. The former CM said, "I met CM Yediyurappa along with our MLAs and MLC from Mandya district as recently the farmer leaders of Mandya district met me to discuss the level of officials to hand over the Mysugar factory to private industries".

Kumaraswamy further said that the factory built during the "Maharajas" period of Mysore and Sir M Visvesvaraya has a history and "it is everyone's wish" that it should be under the control of the government. Talking to media persons, Kumaraswamy said, "I met CM Yediyurappa today and urged him that the Mysugar factory in Mandya should not be handed over to private hands for any reason as it has its own history. The CM has assured me that he will not allow the factory to go into the private hands"
