Padmashree awardee, the renowned Kuchipudi artist and teacher Sobha Naidu, 64 passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad. She was undergoing a treatment for brain hemorrhage for the past two months. Her sodium levels have come below the normal. Due to serious neurological illness for the past days she passed away. Her husband a retired IAS officer Arjun Rao and daughter Sai Shivaranjani was surviving with her.

The artists across the globe mourn deeply for her loss. A veteran telugu actor Chiranjeevi said her loss as an irreplaceable loss to the Telugu Cultural art fraternity. He added that he salutes her for her tremendous service to the Indian/Telugu culture. My heartfelt condolences to the family. May her Soul rest in Peace.  She was born in 1956 at Anakapalli in Andhra Pradesh and had received her training in Kuchipudi dance from Vempati Chinna Satyam against the opposition from the family but her mother supports her always.

Shoba Naidu was awarded the civilian honour of Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2001. In 1991 she was awarded the Sangeet Natak Academy award for the immense contribution to the kuchipudi and also was awarded the title of 'Nritya Choodamani' by the Sri Krishna Gana Sabha of Madras before the Sangeet Natak Academy award.  She also has served as the Principal for the 40 year old Kuchipudi Art Academy, Hyderabad and trained more than 1,500 students from India and abroad. She has choreographed 15 ballet routines and 80 solo performances and has performed in USSR, USA, UK, Turkey, Dubai, Syria and the list goes on.
