Kuwait has unveiled its latest cabinet, with Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Sabah at the helm, following a royal decree issued on Sunday. The decree, issued by Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, confirms Emad al al-Atiqi, Anwar Ali al-Mudhaf, and Abdullah Ali al-Yahya in their roles as oil, finance, and foreign ministers respectively.

Sheikh Ahmad, previously appointed as prime minister in April, is the nephew of the emir. "The Prime Minister and the ministers must implement this decree," stated Sheikh Mishal in the decree.

The formation of the new government comes shortly after the emir indefinitely dissolved the parliament on Friday due to prolonged disagreements between the government and the elected parliament. In addition to dissolving parliament, the emir also suspended certain articles of the constitution, including those mandating the election of a new parliament within two months of dissolution and the requirement for parliamentary and emir approval of laws.

According to state TV reports, the powers of the National Assembly will now be assumed by the emir and the country's cabinet, granting Emir Al-Sabah full control over new legislation. These changes will be in effect for up to four years, during which a comprehensive review of the democratic process will take place.

This marks the second time this year that the Emir has dissolved parliament. Unlike in other Gulf monarchies, Kuwait's legislature holds significant influence, often leading to political stalemates and subsequent reshuffles of the cabinet and dissolutions of parliament.
