Kuwait City: Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has accepted the country's government's resignation. According to reports in the local media, the Emir has asked the government to serve as a caretaker until a new cabinet is constituted. "The Prime Minister's and Ministers' resignations have been accepted, and each Minister will remain in his position until the formation of a new government in Kuwait," the Emir said, according to sources.
Kuwait's cabinet announced its resignation on November 8. The Prime Minister's resignation came on the eve of a parliamentary session, which includes the interpellation of the Prime Minister and other members of his government on the agenda.
The Emir appointed Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Prime Minister and charged him with forming a government on January 24. The emir signed a decree on March 2 creating a new administration led by the Prime Minister. Kuwait's cabinet is frequently reshuffled.
