NEW YEAR 2024: In a remarkable turn of events, Srinagar's Lal Chowk area in Jammu and Kashmir saw an unprecedented celebration to mark the arrival of the New Year. Breaking away from recent traditions, a vibrant gathering amassed at Lal Chowk, signifying a shift in festivities within the region.

The Jammu and Kashmir Department of Tourism orchestrated a captivating musical affair centered around Srinagar's renowned Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower area). Scores of individuals converged at this iconic location, eagerly participating in the jubilant commencement of the New Year.

As the clock struck midnight, an exuberant ambiance enveloped Ghanta Ghar, resonating with infectious beats and lively melodies. Both locals and tourists traversing the scenic Kashmir Valley reveled in the festivity, drawn to this remarkable spectacle at the celebrated clock tower in Srinagar.

Mohammad Yasin, a local attendee, expressed unparalleled elation, stating, "I've come to witness this New Year celebration, a sight unseen before. Lal Chowk has never witnessed such fervor in its celebrations. I'm overjoyed and thrilled to be part of this."

Another local, Taranum, emphasized the novelty of this event in Lal Chowk, underscoring its significance. "Every year, Jammu and Kashmir hosts events, but Lal Chowk is witnessing this for the first time. The desire for peace resonates, and the response of the valley's people matters. Lal Chowk is adorned like a bride," she articulated.

The influx of tourists in the Kashmir Valley was pleasantly surprised by the revelry unfolding at Srinagar's Clock Tower area. Athar Aamir Khan, Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and CEO of Srinagar Smart City Ltd., echoed this sentiment, describing the occasion as an unprecedented transformation for the city.

"This is Srinagar Square, Lal Chowk right now! A city life never seen before. The celebration, the vibrancy like never before!" Khan exclaimed in a social media post. He credited the city's evolution to the implementation of Srinagar Smart City (SMC) projects, expressing pride in the team's efforts.

Prior to the New Year, Lal Chowk buzzed with dancing and singing as the city eagerly welcomed the arrival of 2024. Additionally, Gulmarg town in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed its own New Year's Eve celebration, complete with laser displays and captivating dance performances.

Across the country, various cities joined in the festivities, ushering in the New Year with opulent celebrations and widespread joy.
