Laxman surprised by Rohit not being named in Wisden's list

Former India batsman VVS Laxman Wijden is 'shocked' by the lack of opener Rohit Sharma in his list of five outstanding performers in 2019. England all-rounder Ben Stokes and Australia's Alice Perry have been voted the best performing cricketer of 2019 by Wisden Almanac.

Stokes played a key role in England's ODI World Cup title. He made the team the champion on the basis of his all-round game in the final against New Zealand. Andre Russell of the West Indies has been adjudged the best cricketer of the T20. Laxman said that Rohit had played five centuries in the 2019 ODI World Cup and he was entitled to a place in this list. He said, "I think anyone who watches this game will be surprised to not see Rohit's name in this list of five players."

"Yes, the Ashes are an important series but the World Cup is bigger than the Ashes," said the 134-player player who played 134 Tests for India. It is a big thing to score five centuries in the World Cup. If you remember, his first century was on a difficult wicket against South Africa at Southampton and the other batsmen had a lot of trouble in scoring runs. I or anyone with knowledge of cricket will be surprised by this announcement by Wisden. "Along with Parry, Australian men's team pacer Pat Cummins and batsman Marnus Labushen and England fast bowler Joffra Archer and South Africa's Simon Harmer are included in this list.  "
