Lebanese president urges vaccination in the wake of an increase in cases of Covid

According to a statement from Lebanon's Presidency, Lebanese President Michel Aoun advised people and residents to be vaccinated against Covid-19 on Monday. Aoun urged people to participate in the Health Ministry's vaccination campaigns, which are being held around the country.

"We've seen a significant spike in illnesses, particularly among the unvaccinated," the president added. As a result of a high number of Lebanese expats returning home over the Christmas and New Year holidays, the country has observed an increase in cases.

The million people are affected by Covid-19 in Lebanon has risen to 732,733, with a death toll of 9,154. Only 36% of the population has had both shots.
