Erode, Today, A daily wager was sentenced to life imprisonment by a mahila court here for killing his wife in October last year at Alukuli village in the district.

As per the police, "the prosecution case was that Deivakumar 35 suspected his wife Eswari 29 of infidelity, resulting in frequent quarrels between them."

After one such heated argument on October 29 2015, he doused her with kerosene and set her ablaze, killing her on the spot.

A case was registered and he was arrested the same day on a complaint from her relatives.

Erode District Mahila Court Judge N Thirunavukkarasu sentenced Deivakumar to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
