India, the fastest growing economy of the world is last in terms of protecting women from cruelty. As per the report that is released on Tuesday by Thomson Reuters Foundation and analyzed by 550 experts revealed that India is the most dangerous country in the world for women. High risk of sexual violence and slave labour are main reasons that are mentioned for the results and human trafficking for domestic work and forced marriage termed as other reasons. The report also concluded that India most dangerous country in the world for cultural traditions that impact women. Acid attacks, female genital mutilation, child marriage and physical abuse are the other result of such traditions.

Asia, the Middle East or Africa is considered as the most violent part for women as nine among the top ten countries on the list are from the same region. The only western country that takes part at tenth place in the list is the United State of America for which the trending #MeToo movement is sighted as the main reason. War-torn Afghanistan and Syria came in second and third place respectively due to sexual violence and access to healthcare, economic resources and discrimination.

Foundation’s last report that was released before seven years has India at fourth place. Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan and Somalia were other among top five countries.

“India has shown utter disregard and disrespect for women ... rape, marital rapes, sexual assault and harassment, female infanticide has gone unabated”, an official at the Karnataka state government presented his reviews to Thomson Reuters Foundation. He added, “The (world's) fastest growing economy and leader in space and technology is shamed for violence committed against women.”

India has witnessed many outraged cases that have brought India’s public in its violent form. The kathua rape case of 8 years old was the cruellest incident which was compared to the Nirbhaya rape case. Both incidents result as the mass demonstration due to which Indian Government pass legislation increasing penalties for sexual assault, rape, and sexual abuse, including extending prison sentences and introducing the death penalty.

“World leaders vowed three years ago to eliminate all forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls by 2030, allowing them to live freely and safely to participate equally in political, economic and public life. But despite this pledge, it is estimated that one in three women globally experience physical or sexual violence during their lifetime”, The officials of Thomson Reuters Foundation said while terming the condition as a great obstacle for world development. They added, “Child marriage is still rife, with almost 750 million women and girls married before their 18th birthday, resulting in teen pregnancies that can put their health at risk and limiting schooling and opportunities.”

Hope India will focus on these violent acts of people!
