Lobbying has started for the elections for the three seats of the Rajya Sabha in the effective state of Haryana in India. There will be regular by-elections for two seats of Rajya Sabha and one seat in the state, but these will not be held simultaneously. Based on the number of MLAs, the BJP-JJP alliance candidate's victory in the by-election for one seat of Rajya Sabha is certain. There is a possibility of one seat alliance and one seat in Congress for two seats.

According to media reports, during the regular election of two Rajya Sabha seats, one seat can be won by the Congress in the account of the BJP-JJP alliance. In Haryana's five seats, currently Congress's Kumari Sailja, besides BJP's DP Vats and Independent Dr. Subhash Chandra is in the Rajya Sabha. The by-election for two Rajya Sabha seats in the state was held in the year 2014. At that time, Birendra Singh resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP. INLD leader Ranbir Singh Gangwa gave up the seat of Rajya Sabha after the BJP election victory in the assembly elections.

Since the tenure for these two vacant seats was left more than a year, by-elections were held on them. In this, Birendra Singh and then Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu were elected on BJP ticket. Now Birendra Singh's resignation from Rajya Sabha membership has been accepted. His term was till August 2022. Therefore, this vacant seat will be a by-election. Ramkumar Kashyap, who reached the Rajya Sabha on an INLD ticket in February 2014, resigned from the Rajya Sabha membership recently. He was elected an MLA from Indri on a BJP ticket. His tenure was nearing completion, due to which regular elections would be held on the vacant Rajya Sabha seat of Kashyap. In February 2014, Kumari Sailja of Congress became a Rajya Sabha member. His term is till 9 April 2020.
