Punjab Government is considering to conduct elections on 126 urban local bodies in October. It will send a recommendation to Election Commission regarding this matter. But the final decision will be taken after taking corona's position in the state. It is believed that the decision will be taken according to the sections of the Punjab Municipal Act. This election should be held in September 2020. In a video conference meeting with ministers chaired by CM Captain Amarinder Singh, it has been decided that the decision should be taken after looking into the condition of corona infection.

CM said that there is a possibility of Corona reaching its peak in September. Because of which it has been recommended to make the election process of local bodies soon. It is necessary to understand the situation in Corona before making a recommendation before the Election Commission. In view of Corona's growing case, the possibility of holding elections in the meeting next month has been ruled out completely. Which indicates that we will have to wait for the election.

It was also considered in the meeting that the procurement of paddy crop and the festive season should start in mid-October. Therefore, it would not be possible to hold elections during that time. All the ministers agreed on this matter that, taking care of all the parties, elections of local bodies will be done. So that the general public is not at risk of corona.
