Weekend lockdown announced in Jammu district due to rising Corona cases

Jammu: Corona epidemic has created a terrible situation in the country. After 40 new cases of COVID-19 were revealed in a single day in Jammu city on Sunday, the district administration has announced to implement the weekend lockdown from July 24. Now every week the lockdown will start from 6 pm on Friday evening, which will continue till 6 am on Monday morning. That is, there will be a lockdown in the entire city for 60 hours. Due to this, traffic will be completely banned. In view of the fast-growing cases, Sushma Chauhan, DC, and District Chairman of Disaster Management, Jammu city, has issued an order to implement the weekend lockdown in the city from July 24.

In exercise of the powers under Section 144 of the CrPC, the District Deputy Commissioner has decided about lockdown on July 24, Friday from six in the evening to six in the morning. Due to this, there will be a complete restriction on the movement of persons, vehicles, and all kinds of activities. Only in view of the emergency needs of health, there will be movement. Passengers going to the airport and railway station will be cleared to show tickets. Similarly, the staff of the railway station and the airport will be allowed to go and show their identity cards.

Employees of the departments with essential services of government departments will also be allowed to go forward by showing an identity card. No other curfew passes will be enforced. The vehicles carrying petrol-diesel, LPG tankers, and essential materials will be approved for movement. Stringent action will be taken against those who violate the order. In view of the increasing cases of COVID-19, a lockdown has already been issued in many areas of the state. After this, if there is any improvement in the situation, the government will consider it again.
