After Punjab, grasshopper wreaks havoc in Haryana, government seeks help from HAU

Ludhiana: After Punjab, now grasshopper have attacked green crops of farmers standing in three villages of Sirsa district of Haryana. At the same time locusts have entered the villages of Phulo, Chadha and Panniwala Morika along with Punjab in the district and are hovering over crops. The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has become cautious of locusts. The Director of Agriculture Department has sought technical help from Director Research and Director Extension Hisar Agricultural University. At the same time, the letter written by the Director of Agriculture said that the locust has entered Punjab and Rajasthan and is moving towards Haryana. Locusts have entered three villages of Jhanshirasa district. They can wreak havoc in other districts as well.

According to the information received, it has been learned that to control the grasshopper team, issue technical guidelines. Apart from the university, the technical staff of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh and Rewari co-ordinate with agricultural deputy directors of the respective districts to closely monitor the grasshopper attack.

Nodal Officer appointed for control: The agriculture department has appointed DCs of Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh and Rewari to be the nodal officer of the district for control of locusts. The Deputy Director of Agriculture of these districts will report to the DC and Headquarters every second with the updates related to the locust team. In which it will be necessary to tell about the preparations of the department and storage of pesticides. At the same time it is also being said that if the locust party attacks in these districts intensifies, then the stocked pesticides will be used in DC district. DCs will ensure that farmers get pesticides at 100% subsidy rate. For this, duty of an officer should be imposed which also gives the certificate that the use of pesticides has been done on locusts.
