Three days after polling concluded in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 across eight states and union territories, the Election Commission (EC) has released updated voter turnout figures.

On May 20, the voter turnout for 49 Parliament Constituencies was recorded at 62.2%, revised from the initial 60% reported immediately after polling ended.

State-wise Turnout Highlights

West Bengal saw the highest voter turnout at 78.45%, followed by Odisha at 73.50% and Ladakh at 71.82%.

Conversely, Bihar and Maharashtra recorded the lowest voter turnout at 56.76% and 56.89% respectively.

Re-polling in Odisha

The EC also informed that re-polling at two polling stations in a constituency in Odisha will conclude today, with further updates expected accordingly.

"The final turnout will only be available post-counting, which includes counting of postal ballots and their addition to the total vote count. Postal ballots include those given to service voters, absentee voters (85+, PwD, Essential Services etc.), and voters on election duty," the Commission stated in a press release.
