New Delhi:  Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned today, April 3, soon after Parliament resumed its last leg of the ongoing Budget Session after a 4-day long break.

The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha recessed until 2 p.m. The final part of the Budget session, which started on March 13, has been repeatedly postponed. Before adjourning, the Lok Sabha paid respects to the recently dead former MP and popular Malayalam actor Innocent as well as the member of parliament from Pune, Girish Bhalchandra Bapat.

Some opposition MPs were seen wearing black clothes in the House. In the midst of opposition sloganeering, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned. The Adani issue was discussed in the MPs of the opposition. On the Adani-Hindenburg dispute, the opposition has been calling for a joint parliamentary committee.
Congress members gathered to plan their approach in front of Rahul Gandhi's appeal against his conviction and prison sentence before today's session of Parliament.

Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge stated, "We can't debate the court's ruling, but we can battle against the Central government. They (Centre) don't want to constitute a JPC in the Adani controversy. They plan that the House doesn't operate."
Before leaving for Surat to file an appeal against his conviction, Rahul Gandhi was seen with Sonia Gandhi at his home in the nation's capital.

The party expects that the Sessions court in Surat would hear the former Wayanad MP's appeal on the same day it is filed. Rahul Gandhi is anticipated to arrive at the Surat court about three o'clock, according to sources.
On March 23, the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate H H Varma found the former Lok Sabha MP guilty of slander and sentenced him to two years in jail for his remark about the "Modi surname" in Karnataka in 2019. Sources claim that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi will go to court with the former MP.

Rahul Gandhi is expected to be accompanied by Priyanka, the chief ministers of Himachal Pradesh (Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu), Rajasthan (Ashok Gehlot), Chhattisgarh (Bhupesh Baghel), and the Rajya Sabha (Abhishek Manu Singhvi). In addition, CLP leader Balasaheb Thorat and Maharashtra Congress chairman Nana Patole are anticipated to join the alliance.

Purnesh Modi, a BJP Member and former minister for Gujarat, filed the defamation lawsuit against Gandhi over his remark, "How come all thieves have the common surname Modi?" Following the Surat court's verdict, Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as MP from Lok Sabha following his conviction in the case.
