New Delhi: The new initiative of 17th Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla gave 162 MPs an opportunity to speak during Zero Hour. Members of Parliament, who have been elected for the first time in the Lok Sabha, are also getting a chance to ask questions. On Thursday evening, 162 Members were given the opportunity to speak in 4 hours 48 minutes in zero hour.

The last question has been taken during the Question Hour of the Lok Sabha on Thursday morning. Often, even in the question time, the discussion did not take up till the last question. Even after 20 questions listed on the Table of Parliament, the Minister answered another question. Taking the final question, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the ministers should be prepared for the same from now on. The newly-appointed Lok Sabha Speaker, Ban Om Birla has also set a record of transacting legislative business by changing several modalities of running the Lok Sabha.

For the first time in the Lok Sabha, the use of Hindi has been fully introduced, i.e., yes and no were used earlier during the passage of the bill. Om Birla changed it into words 'Haan' and 'na'. That is, the tradition of 'Yes' and 'No' in English was abolished for the first time during the proceedings of the Lok Sabha. Now it is said that there were so many votes in favour of 'Haan' and so many in favour of 'Na', 'Haan' won.
