New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has written a letter to the presidents of all parliamentary committees about the media coming up for discussions in the meetings of parliamentary committees. Om Birla has mentioned the instruction 55 of the speaker in his letter, under which the proceedings of parliamentary committees should be confidential.

Om Birla has said that members should not tell the media about the proceedings of the committee. Until the report of the committee is presented in Parliament. He has also advised the chairpersons of the committees that Rule 270 should be taken care of while choosing subjects to be discussed in the committee. Under this, the advice of the Speaker should be sought before summoning any person, document or record. Only the decision of the speaker on that subject is valid.

Om Birla said that according to tradition, the committee does not take such subjects which are under consideration in the courts. These should be taken care of in future meetings of committees. The Lok Sabha Speaker has also written in the letter to the presidents of all the committees that all the members of the parliamentary committees should work in the interest of the country, rising above the party politics.
