Loni assault case: Police department to file plea in SC against Twitter India

New Delhi: Plaintiff Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari has got relief from the Karnataka High Court in the Uttar Pradesh-based Ghaziabad Muslim elderly beating case, but the police are now set to approach the apex court in the case. According to information received, The Loni police station in Ghaziabad is soon to file a petition in the apex court.

The police will file a petition against the Karnataka High Court's verdict on the Twitter issue. In fact, the police want to question the MD of the Twitter India, but the Karnataka High Court has granted him interim relief. Ghaziabad police had registered a case against Congress leaders Salman Nizami, Maskur Usmani, Shama Mohammad and writer Saba Naqvi on June 15 besides Twitter Inc, Twitter Communications India, news portal The Wire, journalists Mohammad Zubair and Rana Job.

A case was registered against those for sharing a video in which elderly Abdul Shamd Saifi claimed that he was allegedly beaten up by some youths and also asked him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' on June 5. Police claimed that the video was shared to create communal unrest while the beating of the elderly was caused by the tabies.
