Amritsar: The Ludhiana police have achieved a major breakthrough in the crackdown against drug traffickers. The STF has arrested an accused named Balwinder Singh and recovered crores of cash and one kg of heroin and Tata Shannon car from him. The seizure was made from a smell built on the banks of the Beas river in Motala Mand on Dinanagar Road from mirthal, a village under Pathankot.
The STF has recovered one kg of heroin, Tata Shannon car and 1 crore 2 lakh 90 thousand rupees in cash on the basis of intelligence inputs. In addition, one accused named Balwinder Singh has been arrested. However, Ranjit Singh Rana and Jagmanjeet Singh alias Gagandeep alias Bhola have managed to escape from the encounter site.
AIG Snehdeep Sharma said, based on the information, the STF Ludhiana team gave the press. While Balwinder Singh alias Badla managed to arrest him, his brother Jagmanjit escaped after seeing the police. He said other members of Balwinder's family are also involved in drug trafficking. He said the heroin was kept by Ranjit Rana.
