Accepting Shiva, Parvati took the form of Durga and killed Shumbha-Nishumbha. But as soon as Durga ji killed Raktabeej, blood released from his body produced millions of Raktabeej. Seeing this, Durga ji produced Kalratri with her glory. After this, when Durga ji killed Raktabeej, Kalratri filled the blood coming out of her body and slaughtered everyone and killed Raktabeej.
