BHOPAL: The forthcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections in 2023 have set the stage for a political showdown, with the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan poised to garner support from diverse caste groups such as Brahmin, Kirar-Dhakad, Jatav-Satnami, Kurmi, Yadav, Bania, and Rajput, among others. Simultaneously, the Congress party appears to be the favored choice among the Muslim community and the Bheel community, as per the latest Opinion Poll.
Earlier, data from the ABP-CVoter Opinion Poll hinted at a neck-and-neck electoral battle in Madhya Pradesh, with the BJP holding a slender 0.1% lead over the Congress. The survey indicated that the Congress could secure between 113 to 125 seats out of the total 230 constituencies, while the BJP is expected to clinch 104 to 116 seats.
Madhya Pradesh Elections 2023: A Community-Wise Analysis
Brahmin, Bania, and Rajput: The opinion poll data suggests that approximately 80% of Brahmin voters are leaning towards the BJP, with Congress trailing at 12% among this group, while the remaining 8% are considering other options.
Bania: Around 68% of Bania voters are likely to throw their support behind the ruling BJP, while the Congress party is expected to secure a modest 14% of Bania votes, leaving 18% of the Bania electorate open to other political alternatives.
Rajput: The poll survey indicated that a substantial 72% of Rajputs are inclined to choose the BJP, while 12% may opt for the Congress, and 16% of the community's voters are anticipated to explore alternative candidates.
Kurmi: Nearly 54% of Kurmi voters are inclined to vote for the BJP, followed by 41% supporting Congress, and 5% showing an inclination toward other political parties.
Yadav: In Madhya Pradesh, approximately 47% of Yadav voters may cast their ballots for the BJP, while 35% of Yadav community members are leaning towards the Congress. The poll data revealed that 18% of voters are expected to explore other political party options.
OBC: According to the opinion polls, 56% of OBC voters are likely to rally behind the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, with 32% favoring Congress, and 12% showing interest in other parties.
Kirar-Dhakad: A substantial 84% of the Kirar-Dhakad community members are poised to vote for the BJP in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh elections, while the Congress may secure a mere 15% of Kirar-Dhakad votes.
Bheel: The opinion poll predicted that around 54% of Bheel voters are inclined to cast their ballots for the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh, with the BJP securing the support of only 35% of the Bheel community. Other political parties are expected to gain nearly 11% of Bheel's votes.
Jatav-Satnami: The poll data suggests that Jatav-Satnami voters are closely divided between the BJP and Congress, with the saffron party anticipated to receive 45% of the votes from this community, while the grand old party is likely to secure 42% of Jatav-Satnami votes. Other parties are expected to capture 13% of Jatav-Satnami voters.
Other Dalits: As per the opinion poll data, the BJP is expected to secure approximately 44% of the votes from other Dalit communities, while the Congress may garner the support of 40% of other Dalit voters.'
