Madhya Pradesh: 5 Dead, Several Injured After Truck Hits Parked Van in Bhind

BHIND (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district left five people dead and eight injured after a speeding dumper truck crashed into a parked loading van near Jawaharpura village.

The incident happened around 5 AM on Tuesday (February 18)  on National Highway 719. The victims were on their way back to Bhawanipura village after attending a wedding in Jawaharpura. Some of them were inside the van, while others stood nearby when the dumper suddenly hit them.

Three people died on the spot, and two more passed away later due to their injuries, said Bhind district SP Asit Yadav. The injured persons were immediately taken to the district hospital for treatment.

Angry villagers gathered at the accident site and blocked the highway, demanding action against officials, including the Bhind collector, SP, and MP Sandhya Rai. They protested loudly, stopping vehicles from moving.

Police soon arrived to calm the situation and spoke with the protesters to restore order.

Another Road Tragedy in Bilkhiria

On Sunday, a speeding mini-truck hit a bike on Raisen Road in Bilkhiria, trying to overtake it. Diksha Mehra (25), who was riding with her husband and two children, suffered serious head injuries and died. Her husband, Dharmendra Mehra, and their kids (aged 4 and 3) had minor injuries.

Police have filed a case and are trying to find the truck and its driver, said Bilkhiria SHO Umesh Chouhan. Diksha was originally from Silwani in Raisen district and lived in Bilkhiria, where Dharmendra works as a watchman in Kanhasaiya.
