Bhopal: The Department of Power has launched a reward scheme to check power theft in Madhya Pradesh. A reward of 10 percent of the amount to be recovered will be given to the informant of the theft of electricity. There will be no limit to the amount. According to a statement issued by the government on Friday, the Central Sector Electricity Distribution Company has launched a scheme to award the award under the stipulated conditions for reporting its illegal use to rein in electricity theft.

According to the statement, in respect of illegal use and theft of electricity, the Central Sector Power Distribution Company may also inform the Regional General Managers in addition to the Company Headquarters and Regional Headquarters. It shall be the responsibility of the concerned authority to keep the information of the informant confidential. The officers and employees of the company will not be treated as informers. The informant will be paid a 10 percent prize of the amount recovered, which will be paid from the company headquarters. The incentive amount will be credited directly to the informant's bank account.

As per the award scheme, departmental officers and employees who make cases and collect the amount will also be given 2.5 per cent as incentive. Vigilance Cell has been constituted for implementation of the scheme at The Company Headquarters. Information may also be sent to this Vigilance Cell.
