Bhopal: Jagdish Singh Meena, the President of Madhya Pradesh's Sarva Meena Samaj, has officially become a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with his supporters, in anticipation of the upcoming state assembly elections. The formal induction took place in the presence of Union Minister and BJP's Madhya Pradesh election in-charge, Bhupender Yadav, in Bhopal, the state capital, on Saturday.

Upon joining the BJP, Meena expressed his reasons for the move, stating, "I have chosen to align with the Bharatiya Janata Party due to my admiration for the party's commitment to the welfare of marginalized communities, SC-ST categories, our nation, and its adherence to the principles of Sanatan Dharma."

When asked about his timing in joining the party just before the elections and whether he had sought a party ticket, Meena clarified that his decision had no connection to seeking a ticket. He emphasized his intention to serve as a dedicated BJP worker, saying, "There is no motive related to securing a party ticket; I will function as a committed BJP worker, striving to bolster the party. The desire for a position is absent; being a worker in itself is a significant role. As a social worker, I will continue to contribute. I am confident that BJP candidate Priyanka Meena, contesting from our constituency (Chachoura assembly seat in Guna district), will secure a resounding victory in the forthcoming state assembly elections."

It's worth noting that the Congress has nominated Lakshman Singh, the brother of former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, as its candidate for the Chachoura seat.

In recent developments, a former BJP MLA and senior leader, Mamta Meena, parted ways with the party and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She cited the lack of respect for longstanding BJP members as the primary reason for her decision to resign.
