Everyone is upset due to Coronavirus infection. The government of Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madhya Pradesh has decided to extend the civic body elections a year ahead. That is, the tenure of the bodies has increased for a year without contesting elections. Nearly four months have passed since the term of these bodies ended.

Kamal Nath's government could not hold elections in time and now the new government has announced to extend the tenure of the bodies for a year. The state government has issued an ordinance to amend the law under which the responsibility of the bodies is being handed over to the administrative committees. The government has included the Mayor, President and all the councilors in these committees. After the swearing in of the cabinet, the draft of the ordinance was approved by amending the Municipal Bodies and Municipal Acts in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Mayawati raised voice for migrant labourers and poor people

In this regard, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said that due to corona, the situation of municipal elections is not visible, so until the elections are held or for a year, administrative committees will be set up in the municipal bodies. The administrative committee will also include the Mayor, Municipality President and Nagar Panchayat President and they will work together between the administration and the public. The tenure of all except the Ujjain in the 16 municipal bodies has ended.
