Ujjain: Mahakal temple expansion is being done under making Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh a smart city, for which construction work is going on in 500 meters area, for which the process of acquiring land is also in full swing. On Monday, the Municipal Corporation team reached Begum Bagh Colony under the Mahakal area of ​​​​Ujjain to destroy about 17 illegal houses. Due to this, revenue and police administrative staff were also present.

Notice was given to these illegal occupants 1 month ago. They were given the prescribed compensation amount or flat option. Even then, the people did not vacate the houses, after which administrative action is being taken. Earlier also, about 250 illegal shops and houses were destroyed in the Begum Bagh area.

It may be recalled that under the Smart City Project at Ujjain, Shipra Ghat, Urban Forest, Hawker Zone, Garden, Parking etc. For this, work is on removing illegal constructions constructed on government land in the city. Work is also underway on a plan to make the popular Mahakal temple in Ujjain 10 times bigger under the Smart City Project. For this, the High Court had ordered the destruction of all illegal houses and shops coming up on Mahakal Marg. The High Court in its order had stated that those who are settled in the encroached area should be informed first and 45 days time should be given to vacate the house.
