Modi govt's big decision amid Omicron panic, 2 new vaccines and one drug approved

New Delhi: The Modi government at the Centre has taken another major step in the ongoing war against the corona epidemic in the country. The government has given the green signal to the emergency use of two more vaccines to further accelerate the vaccination drive. Ans the use of a drug has also been approved. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted this information.

 

 

The central government's move comes at a time when cases of new corona Omicron variants are on the rise in the country. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed that the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has given the green signal to the emergency use of two corona vaccines, Covowax and Corbiwax as well as anti-viral drug Molnupiravir.

The first of the two corona vaccines allowed by the drugs controller on Monday is Corbevax, developed by Hyderabad-based pharma company Biological-E. This is the third vaccine made against the coronavirus to be indigenous. On the other hand, the second vaccine is Covovax which is being developed by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India. Covowax has been created by American company Novawax, which is being produced by the Serum Institute.
