New Delhi: Preparations for the first royal bath on Mahashivratri (March 11) in Mahakumbh 2021 are at a peak. The participation of the akharas in Kumbh has special significance. There are a total of 13 akharas under the Akhara Council of India, of which around 500 are Mahamandaleshwar posts. Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj is the head of the Niranjani Akhara as well as the head of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad. Mahant Narendra Giri has called for greater representation of women in the Akhara Councils.

The Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad emphasized ensuring greater participation in the women's akharas on the occasion of International Women's Day. This is the first time that a strong voice has been raised for greater representation of women in the field of spirituality. Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj is the President of Niranjani Akhara, in which 13 women are Mahamandaleshwar. In another big akhada too, women are holding the post of Mahamandaleshwar.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj while talking to a private news channel said that women should get more respect and leadership in the arena. According to him, women who believe in spirituality, according to their merit, should get a place in positions like Akhada councils and Mahamandaleshwar.
