Mumbai: Maharashtra's police in Nanded arrested 14 people in connection with violence outside a gurudwara. In the attack, four policemen were injured during the destruction in which one of the constables is reported in a serious condition and six vehicles were damaged.

ANI, a news agency quoted police officials said that the case has been registered three FIRs against 64 people under charges of rioting and attempt to murder on Monday. Talking about the case, Sikhs in the Nanded sword-wielding mob attacked policemen because permission was denied to hold a public procession due to the pandemic. Various news agencies have flashed a video of the incident. In the video, it is showed that the mob barging out of the gurudwara, breaking the barricades, and attacking the cops. Nanded Range DIG Nisar Tamboli told that "Permission for the Hola Mohalla public procession was not granted due to the pandemic. The gurudwara committee was informed and they had assured us that they would abide by our directives and hold the event inside the gurudwara premises," to news agency PTI. He further added, "when the Nishan Sahib was brought at the gate around 4 pm, several participants started arguing and over 300 youth stormed out of the gate, broke the barricades and began attacking the policeman."

Nanded is an important  centre as it is home to a sacred shrine. Hola Mohalla is a  that comes a day after Holi for which police did not grant the public procession due to the second wave of corona in India. He said, "The gurdwara committee was informed and they had assured us that they would abide by our directives and hold the event inside the gurdwara premises."
