Mumbai: All the political parties of the state have started finalizing their preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra. The main battle in the state is between the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and the opposition Congress and NCP alliance. In the seat-sharing, the opposition Congress and NCP coalition overtook the ruling coalition. Between the two, there is a coordination of 125 seats and the remaining seats are left for some small parties and organizations operating in the state. It also includes SP.

Discontent in Congress is now increasing against this synergy. Angry at this equation, party leaders believe that the leadership is going to give such seats to the SP, which the Congress can easily win. They say that if the party continues to follow this policy, then like in UP, they will lose their seats here. Samajwadi Party leader Abu Hashimi has firmly claimed three seats, including the Bhiwandi assembly seat. The Congress is organizational and grassroots strong in these seats, so local leaders and contenders are opposing it.

In lieu of this, SP will field-friendly candidates against Congress in three other seats. In fact, the formula that Sharad Pawar has met by meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi has a strategy to field a single candidate from the opposition against the BJP candidate. Some leaders of Maharashtra state wrote a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressing displeasure over the seat-sharing with SP.  SP had won only Bhiwandi seat in the year 2014.
